Hello everyone
For those who know more than I do.
I'm in the process of expanding our 1 1/2 story house and have reached the point where the basement over the new section is complete and the flooring above is finished with 45x195 cc 40 cross-braced and supported by a central wall in the basement.
Now I want a large room on the "ground floor" without a central wall and need to replace it with something else to support the upper floor (1/2) story ceiling and the trusses at the center.
What would be appropriate, a glulam beam or a steel I-beam?
I prefer glulam but how thick would that need to be, I don't want to duck on the ground floor to pass under....?
The conditions are:
Width/span of the 1/2 story ceiling and trusses and the house's width is 7.4m
The length of the beam to replace the central wall=extension/expansion of the house is 4.80m
Help me if you can or give me tips on who can calculate this, I live just north of Västerås.

Counted using the load program Martinson had and concluded glulam at 115X495 or possibly 115x405 so it's just to forget, didn't want to crouch on the ground floor :

So it's just a matter of hunting down an H/I steel beam in the V-ås area......anyone know who has those?
