Hey!

I've messed up... Stove fuel has leaked onto the parquet and dissolved the varnish. Luckily, the wood doesn't seem to be damaged.

My question is: What's the best way to repair the varnish?

  • Damaged parquet floor with dissolved varnish due to spilled stove fuel, revealing the wood beneath.

Sand it off and apply new lacquer. There might be a slight color difference compared to the original. You can mask right at the borders against a strip that hasn't been damaged. Then only lacquer the strips that were damaged.
You can give it a day to see if the stain disappears as the lacquer hardens again.

Thanks for the response, Tompa! I'm also worried about large color differences, but maybe it's fine with the right type of varnish. Is there any varnish you can recommend?

I think the nuance difference is less visible than the brand anyway 😀
Not really a lacquer to recommend. But buy something from a well-known brand
