We have moved our heat pump. Left on the wall is now a hole with a 10cm diameter that goes through the entire outer wall. Of course, this needs to be sealed, but what is the best way? Can I just push in insulation and cover the hole from the outside and inside? Or should there be air gaps and plastic and stuff in between?

Stud wall or concrete wall?
Fill the hole with foam sealant, plaster on the inside, and apply a similar surface finish as the rest of the house has on the outside? If you use mineral wool, you probably need some sort of vapor barrier.

It is a studded wooden wall. Ok, is expanding foam enough?
