Repair garage wall (lightweight concrete)! How? With what?
Hello.
Recently bought a house with an associated detached garage.
Now it's the garage's turn to be spruced up and during the cleaning I discovered that the wall (one of the short sides) has continuous cracks (you can see the light...) in it, from floor to ceiling.
Looks like settling...
The walls are about 20 cm thick...
The walls in the garage are (currently a cold garage, it will become a heated garage), what I believe are light concrete blocks (like lecablocks) but with much finer pores, and they are easy to drill into with a regular drill, and to nail into. (the previous owner was eager to nail into them...)
Now to the question...
How, and with what should I seal/repair these cracks with? Also, the holes from the nails? But mostly the cracks...
Tried to read up on this and everything comes up from masonry glue, to Finja's "Laga ute", to plaster etc... but I can't make sense of it.
No, the surfaces are not plastered, but painted with some paint, like lime wash or something. So these can be considered "raw"...

It sounds like you have walls made of siporex/ytong.
I would follow this guide:

Hi! Sorry for reopening an old thread but the problem with links is that they eventually become outdated. I am in the same situation and wonder if you or anyone reading this knows which guide is being referred toMathiasS said:
Thank you very much, and sorry again!
Haven't managed to fix the garage yet, one of many projects, and am now about to start there since it needs to be organized inside, and went to check the link... it didn't work. :/
So I'm kind of in the same position as you sarrigato.
Does anyone know which guide is being referred to? On Finja's site...

Yes, seen it on several pages, and Xella who sells Ytong stuff has no prices. Must contact them.MathiasS said:
But don't you think Mortar C could work?
It's going to be such a project...
