Hello,

Water has penetrated to the rebar, which has rusted and cracked parts of the cast wall in the basement level.
It didn't look too bad on the outside, but when I knocked off the loose parts, a bit disappeared...
The original plan was to knock off some loose parts and fill with tube concrete, but that's probably not going to work.

The simplest way might be a tube of foam sealant and a bit of plastering over it, but it feels wrong.
Is it reasonable to fix it by building a mold with a small hole in the top and pouring concrete in?
What kind? Expanding?

Thanks in advance.

Spackling with regular house fix sounds simpler than casting there. Aren't you worried that it will just crack again? I don't know if it will have any long-term effect, but brushing rust converter on the rebar might buy a little more time?

I would like to make a solution so good that it lasts 40 years. The iron continues down but does not seem to have rusted much further down to the point where it has cracked the concrete yet. Maybe I should chisel out some fresher iron further down and cut away the bad part. Then I want to fill with something that keeps the moisture away. Maybe husfix is enough...

The house fixing went well. Took the opportunity to replace some boards that were bad at the bottom as well.
