Hello,

I have had an electrician here in our 70s house who has redone all the wiring.
Throughout the ground floor, he has made large holes in the wall under all the electrical outlets to run the wiring inside the wall instead of on the outside as it was before.

How do I best repair these holes?

  • Large hole in a wall under an electrical outlet, showing exposed electrical conduits.
Gypsum plaster maybe?

The easiest way is probably to place a standing piece of planed white-painted trim that is as wide as the gap over the hole?

Now it's a bit difficult to see in the picture, but if the flexible hoses are completely inside the plaster, you make straight cuts on the hole and bevel them, then you cut a new piece of plaster in suitable size and glue it. Something like this https://www.gyproc.se/gör-det-själv/laga-hål-i-gipsvägg

I've never worked with plaster mix before, but it might work.
Do you have any tips on a good plaster mix?

That's roughly how it looked before, except with a plastic cover strip, but it didn't go over well with the wife in the house

Then perhaps the missus can present a better solution?
Even if you patch up the hole in the drywall, you still have a green square where the wallpaper is missing.

In some of the holes, unfortunately, the flexible pipes are at the same level as the gypsum and they're very rigid. But in places where they lie within, your suggestion sounds like a good option.

All the walls are going to be painted and wallpapered again, therefore I need to fix the holes first.
