Hello!

I had to take down the particle board that was previously on an interior wall, and underneath there was both concrete and old paneling, a few holes, and very uneven surfaces. I would prefer not to put up a particle board directly again, and would rather use renovation plasterboard (possibly with battens behind?) or something else clever. Perhaps we should use joint compound? I'll upload some pictures for you to see. The question really is; how can we do this the nicest, simplest, relatively cheaply, and of course, durably?

It will probably be paneling on everything, but that's not decided yet...

Grateful for answers!

  • Exposed interior wall with uneven surface and missing panels next to a doorway leading to a kitchen with white cabinets and a wooden floor.
  • Close-up of a damaged interior wall corner showing exposed concrete and old paneling, with visible gaps and uneven surfaces after particle board removal.
  • Damaged interior wall with exposed concrete, old paneling, and visible holes near a wooden frame and flooring edge. Peeling paint and debris on the floor.
It will probably be easiest to align with some läkt and then add the writing material or panel of your choice.

Thanks! That sounds smooth! And I don't need to fill in holes in the stone or anything, just put it up (and avoid attaching in the holes)?

Unless you believe the whole house will fall apart if you don't do anything about it, then it's probably safe to build it in.
