Repair cracked plaster

The plaster on my stove insert has cracked. What's the best way to fix it? Does it work with stove sealant and then masonry/plaster paint?

I was mainly thinking that when things are heated, they expand due to the heat, and I want it to last a long time.

But it's not in the fireplace, so regular usage shouldn't be affected.
However, I can't understand why you aren't saying what kind of mortar you're using, or your thought process.
