Planning to completely renovate the house and have received quotes. Regarding the walls, there are seagrass wallpapers there today. One company plans to tear down and skim-coat. The other company says it takes so much time to tear down that they instead install renovation plasterboard over it. In the basement against the outer wall, moisture-resistant boards, and in the rest of the basement, renovation plasterboard.

Is the plasterboard option better or worse? I'm wondering if it's unwise to keep organic material against the basement wall underneath... Or is it actually good to put up the renovation plasterboard?

In the basement, I would probably have torn off the wallpaper and plastered the walls instead, as well as painted with a breathable paint. Plasterboard is a good option for the other walls in the house.

I probably wouldn't enclose organic material between wet room boards, which are sealed, and an outer wall. It could get as damp as anything back there. In that case, the broad filling alternative is probably better, because it should breathe a little too, even if they even leave the wallpapers in place and plaster over them.

Yes, that's probably how it will have to be! I can add that the basement is actually a souterrain, and it concerns the entrance hall, so it's in the "open" part that is above ground... I don't know if that affects anything?
