Currently renovating an old balcony door in decent condition. The lower exterior part of the door is covered with a masonite board, which needs to be replaced.
Can I use waterproof construction adhesive to attach the new board in the rabbet? The question is whether the adhesive joint will be sufficiently waterproof.
Or should I use sealant/caulking + nailing to achieve a watertight insertion of the board into the door?
You will paint the door afterwards, right? Then the paint will provide the final seal. The most important thing is that water does not remain standing, but drains off or has the opportunity to evaporate quickly.
