Renovation of a townhouse...questions and thoughts
Hello,
I am renovating a wooden row house from the 60s with a plastic roof, parquet, and cork mat.
Some questions.
1- Before laying laminate/parquet flooring, I would reinforce the existing chipboard. What type of board is suitable for that? What type of screw?
2- To reinforce the kitchen wall (which is single drywall today) for installing tall cabinets, what type of board? Chipboard? Or chipboard plus a planed board for extra reinforcement?
3- What type of ceiling paint/primer is recommended? Texture, roller, which spec?
4- What type of wall paint/primer is recommended?
5- Where can you rent drywall lifts and sanders for larger areas?
6- Is this the correct order after everything is torn down in the house: Install ceiling joists, install ceiling drywall, paint the ceiling, lay easy-cover or wall drywall, paint the walls, reinforce the floor, lay laminate/parquet, install baseboards, install kitchen, install tiles, ... and everything starts from the second floor.

1 floorboard with chipboard screws (if you have a wooden joist structure, try to lay on the old subfloor if possible)
2 first screw the plywood, then the gypsum board onto the plywood
3 ceiling paint gloss 7 (usually) prime first, then paint
4 wall paint usually gloss 3, prime first, then paint
5 if you live in Stockholm, you can rent from Cramo or Hyreshuset in Bromma... there are probably many more
6 whatever you do, do it the most correct way but if you lay the floor first, make sure to protect it afterwards. My suggestion is: demolish, frame, gypsum board, fill, sand, paint, floor, kitchen, doors, baseboards, and casings
good luck with the construction

Gloss 7 is wall and gloss 3 is ceiling. There is indeed paint with gloss 4 for walls now, but not so common.spamb said:1 floorboard with chipboard screw (if you have wooden joists, if possible try to use old substrates) 2 screw plywood first then gypsum on plywood 3 ceiling paint gloss 7 (usually) prime first then paint, 4 wall paint usually gloss 3 prime first then paint 5 if you live in Stockholm you can rent from Cramo or Hyreshuset in Bromma ... there are probably many more 6 you should do it in the most correct way but if you lay the floor first make sure to protect it afterward, my suggestion is to demolish.frame.gypsum.fill.sand.paint.floor.kitchen.doors.skirting boards and casings good luck with the construction
