What type of insulation is actually best to lay directly on the slab?
I have demolished the bathroom and removed the old concrete/self-leveling compound and underneath, removed the insulation that was there. What is the best material to re-insulate with if I am going to pour a new floor afterward? Debris on bathroom floor after old insulation removal, with exposed pipes and tools, ready for new insulation before flooring. Renovation site with tools and broken concrete in a wooden room, showing a drill, wires, and insulation materials scattered on the floor.

See that it was a long time since you asked. What did you do? Facing the same problem.

Hi. We used EPS. Easy to work with. Turned out well.

How thick is the EPS layer? What did you have on top of the EPS? Self-leveling compound? Then? We are going to lay a wet room mat.

Approximately 10cm, then leveling compound with electric heating 3-5cm

Wow, I guess it's very heavy to mix that much concrete? Did you have a concrete mixer?

It ended up being styrofoam for us.
