Hello,
I'm looking to see if anyone has good tips according to modern standards. I'm not particularly knowledgeable about any standard, so please bear with me.
I've removed all the insulation and taken down the plasterboard (double sheets for some reason). The studs and sill need to go as well. After that, I'll rebuild. I'm doing this because of the chloranisoles. That gas that forms when treated wood gets wet, which was common in the 70s.
The previous owner made an effort by replacing the sill and putting a sheet metal around the new one (it lies directly on the slab) and sawing off the studs that were also against the slab. According to him, it made a big difference but odor contamination in the plasterboard and insulation means it still smells, so I'm trying to remove the problem.
I'm planning to clean the stone, paint it with blocking paint, build a new frame, insulate, apply plastic, and install plasterboard (only one sheet).
Any tips on this? Something that's easy to miss or forget? Material tips? Or just some general advice for someone who hasn't done this before?
