Hello!

I have some questions about how to spruce up a teak table? I've attached a picture, if it went through as I intended. It's a table that can be extended to a larger size. You can see that there's a nicer color on the extendable leaves which are usually hidden under the middle leaf. The extendable leaves are in good condition, although the picture was taken in poor light with a mobile camera, so it might not show well.

Is it possible to fix up a teak table yourself (and how do I do it if so) or is it smarter to have it professionally restored? Does anyone know how much such a restoration might cost roughly?

Thanks in advance.

  • Teak table with foldable leaves, showing color disparity between middle and side sections due to lighting. Taken with a phone camera.
Sand down to bare wood (the boards should then get the same color) and apply two coats of Osmo's Hardwax Oil. It doesn't need to be more difficult than that as long as the table is made of solid teak.
