I have a question regarding renovating the basement. I'm about to start this soon and have looked into a few things about how everything should be done and what is important to consider. This will only be used as a family room, but it might become a bedroom or something similar in the future. The walls were previously covered with nice paneling from the 70s and insulated from the inside with insulation and plastic outside, as well as a carpet on the floor. Under that lies 22mm particle board, which is on top of styrofoam that is placed on plastic above the concrete slab. We had the house drained last year and put Pordrän 100mm boards on while we were already doing the driveway. Now I was thinking like this, but I want to know from someone knowledgeable if this is completely crazy before I start. On the concrete slab, I was thinking of laying Platon sheeting that goes up about 10 cm on the walls, then using some sort of styrofoam for insulation and 22mm particle board over that to be able to lay flooring on it. We are still undecided about the walls, but one idea is to place steel studs about 10mm from the basement wall and then install moisture-resistant drywall on these to allow air circulation. Then I'm wondering if it's necessary to install some kind of fan for air circulation or if it can be left without?

I don't see any major problems with that solution. Mechanically underpressurizing ventilation I don't think you need unless you have significant moisture penetration into the slab. A dry and fine floor otherwise, you don't need the Platonmat. Over 20 years ago, I placed foam directly on the slab, but I did so by splitting the thickness and laying two pieces on top of each other - the first one way, then the second layer the other way, so it covered the joints of the first layer. And then directly on top, a Pergo floor, which still holds up without issues. Invest in a better quality of foam so you can avoid 22mm particle board unless you're going to place heavy machinery and the like. The floor I laid has hosted many parties and has withstood all sorts of things.

Okay. Yes, it's good to know. We will be pulling up the floor that's there in the near future, so we'll see how it looks then. I thank you for your perspective on it all.
