I'm considering converting the garage and installing a larger door, like a folding or swing door. However, as it stands now, two rafters need to be removed to gain more headroom in the garage (to accommodate a caravan or something taller than a low car).

Can this be done without the entire structure collapsing? Is it enough to install additional reinforcements higher up to hold the trusses together?

The garage door currently there is also too low, so it needs to be replaced with a higher model. And then a beam needs to be supported. Is this something one can tackle themselves or should professionals be hired for it? Garage ceiling corner with a wooden beam and drywall, showing structural issues and potential for renovation with modifications for increased height and door replacement. Garage interior with wooden beams and bricks, showing potential structural challenges for remodeling; visible paint mark possibly indicates planned changes.
