Watch the Roomservice episode where they fix up Martin Stenmark's kitchen. There, they build the column into a kitchen island. However, they didn’t do much with the column apart from painting it pink, but maybe you can get a better idea of what it looks like in reality...

Tokv41>> I'll check it out! - Thanks for the tip.

The kitchen was previously where the sofa is in the picture. We've gone back and forth and probably drawn hundreds of proposals, but the kitchen doesn't quite turn out how we imagined if we keep it in the old place. It becomes an enclosed kitchen, and the door that has to be on the short wall takes up a lot of space. The sofa and dining table don't quite fit if you want a wall to put the TV on either (if you have the TV room where the kitchen is).

The problem now is that the TV room becomes quite narrow, about 3m in total. I think that even if it's minimal, it's better to sit a little closer to the TV than to compromise on the kitchen. The TV with accessories will be built into the wall.

The reason I'm writing this is that I would like to get your input on whether it "feels" wrong to furnish the house as shown in the pictures. The entrance to the laundry room will be through the TV room, but I've noticed you always have to compromise with something. I'm after the open feeling but don't want to create an "unsellable" home because of it...

Best regards, Marcus

I watched the program and it was okay, even though pink is not my favorite color =) - However, I want the post to be as inconspicuous as possible, so my plan is to only integrate power outlets in 2 directions so you can stand there with a mixer, etc., and prepare for a small kitchen TV mounted higher up on the post, adjustable so you can see it from all parts of the kitchen and the kitchen table.

The wife objected to having a "bar counter" on one side, she argued that it's redundant since we have the dining table nearby, but I see it as 50% design and that it's nice when you have a sandwich in the morning and also useful if you want to sit down while preparing something. You don't necessarily need to have 4 chairs either... - what do you think??

I also found a picture online of a built-in pillar... thinking of something similar:

The kitchen I designed is, by the way, inspired by these pictures I found on Google; it has a nice, sleek atmosphere, I think:

That program has been voted the best room service ever done.. Despite a post, so a post shouldn't stop you ;)

The fact is that pink fit quite well in Their kitchen... But you can do a lot with the post or hide it as much as possible...

A bar counter sounds more 80s than it needs to be.. Many new productions have a type of bar counter around kitchen islands nowadays...

Exactly, and our parties always end up in the kitchen =) - So why not build the kitchen by the party instead.. - Honestly, I'm quite "fond of" drinks.. you mix in the kitchen and serve the people sitting opposite.. but maybe it's a bit childish now that you're getting older and have kids =)

Not at all!! A bar counter doesn't have to be a black Ikea shelf with chrome bar stools as mentioned... I definitely think you should go for it.. As mentioned, a nice way to socialize...

Good luck!!
