Hello!

I hope I'm posting this in the right forum.

We are considering remodeling our loft. We have an architect who is currently drawing the loft, but so far we've only received a rough sketch.

What I wonder is how complicated it is to do it yourself once you have the drawings?
What we plan to do is lower a part of the loft, as you can see on the rough sketch, to make it standing height. Today, the loft is the same height throughout the room. About 40% of the loft will be lowered.
If you are a decent hobby carpenter, can you manage this yourself, or should we seek help? Mainly, I want to do it myself to save money.

What could the material cost, roughly speaking?
If we were to hire someone, what might an estimate be for the labor cost?

The drawing we received isn't finalized; instead, we got several options and then choose which one we wanted to proceed with.

3D sketch of a room with a loft and spiral staircase; part of the loft is being considered for lowering to standing height, as shown in the design.
