Hello,

I would like to tile and set tiles in the bathroom in my vacation home. The house is on stilts and the joist layer consists of 45 x 95 (mm) studs, cc 60. "Someone" has said it might be too heavy to tile and tile with these dimensions.

Is this a workable idea?

Re-stud to cc30 and reinforce the joist layer with additional 45 x 95 studs attached to the existing studs.

If I haven't managed to be confusing enough in my description/question, feel free to let me know :)

45x95 sounds very weak. How far is it between the plinths?

I agree. But unfortunately, that's the case... The bathroom is an extension to the rest of the house. The bathroom stands on four piers (one in each corner) and has the dimensions 270 x 180 (cm).

I was planning to tile the floor and two of the walls.

Thanks for getting involved.

Jonas
