Hello.

We will open a part of our load-bearing wall, approximately 5100mm.
Part of the opening is already opened and relieved with a beam constructed from studs, this beam is 260x65mm.

The foundation is a bed of crushed stone, a footing cast of about 500mm x 170mm on which a wall has been built that in turn is approximately 190mm wide.

Question 1: Does anyone know if the foundation needs to be reinforced, and if so, how is this usually done?
Question 2: If one chooses to build a custom support without shores, how should it be constructed?

Grateful for answers.

  • Partially opened load-bearing wall in a living room under renovation, with wood beams supporting the ceiling, furniture visible in the background, and construction tools.
  • Concrete block wall with visible foundation on gravel bed, under a ceiling with wooden beams. Black tarp covers the ground.
  • A wooden beam supports a grey pipe above a concrete foundation with a ruler on the ground.
