If you want to make a recess in a floor on a concrete slab with underfloor heating that has not yet been poured, it is easiest to cast the recess directly into the slab or set joists on the slab and the recess there?

With joists, it feels like it will be unnecessary extra work to counteract the thermal bridge in the floor, or am I wrong?

are you going to install the water pipes in the slab or are you going to install underfloor heating after casting?

if you want the lowering in the slab, you also need to change the insulation and adjust the reinforcement.

If I cast the recess into the slab, I embed underfloor heating in the slab around the recess. If I create the recess using joists on the slab, it would probably be better to install underfloor heating in the joists, also around the recess.

This slab has not been started at all; it's purely speculation. I'm just curious about which solution would be best.

Anyone have opinions on this?
