Hello!
I need to make a notch for a rail in a 70x70 post that's already in place. That means I can't remove the post and solve it on a bench...
I have a circular saw, and a poor jigsaw and handsaw - no multi-tool and no chisel...

I guess the best option would be to go into town and buy a multi-tool, but what's the next best option? Two cuts with the handsaw and then go at it with the jigsaw to fine-tune with a file?

If you can reach with the circle, I think it's easiest to set the depth on it, set a stop for the outermost cuts and then freehand in between about every cm. Chisel away and sand the bottom of the recess.

Otherwise, you can do the same with a sharp handsaw if that feels easier.

Handsaw and use a screwdriver as a chisel
