Have built a radiator cover in MDF and rattan mesh on the front. Felt the underside of the top board and it was very warm. Is this something to be concerned about?

  • MDF radiator cover with rattan front next to a bathroom sink and toilet, questioning warmth under top panel.
If they are an electric radiator, then they're not good. But if they are a waterborne radiator, then it's fine. But you might want to make more holes at the top so that you get the heat out.

Ok, yes it's an electric radiator. How do you know how many holes/lines are enough? Should you just check to make sure the top doesn't get too warm?

I would never install an electric heater. It's likely stated in the manufacturer's instructions that it is not allowed. Not so good if it overheats and catches fire.

Ei sa peitä (or however it is spelled). Electric heaters usually always have a sign saying that they must not be covered.

Nice construction, which you probably intended to paint? But I wouldn't have covered a heater element :( it can go bad quite quickly.

The only Finnish sentence all Swedes know. Except for Musta kissa😱.
Ovnen må ikke tildekkes, say the Norwegians.

So it probably needs better ventilation. Larger openings on the top. But it will always remain significantly warm.

Do a test. Put it on full power for a few hours.
If it withstands that, it can handle longer periods too.

Have it without integration. Spray the plate with WD40 for rust protection.

Don't people use their brains anymore?
