In my kitchen renovation, I've now reached the tiling stage. I've never tiled before but could probably manage it if I tried. The question is whether it's worth it. I'm mainly thinking about all the new tools one needs to purchase, where a tile cutter is probably the most expensive investment. My kitchen is shaped like an "L," with one side being 180 cm and the other 330 cm. The height to be tiled is 51 cm. Cutouts need to be made for 3 recessed wall outlets. The wall is spackled and even. What do you think a craftsman would charge to tile this after ROT? I plan to buy the tiles and adhesive myself.
Otherwise, if I were to tile myself, maybe I should go for tiles that are 25 cm high. Then I wouldn't have to cut tiles on the height since it's 51 cm between the counter and upper cabinets, right? Maybe the cheapest tile cutter would be enough then? Not sure if it looks odd with such large tiles.
The most challenging part if I tile myself seems to be around the wall outlets. Any good tips on how to approach it?
