Quality materials at the best price
I have some things that I need to buy.
tiles, paint, doors with frames, etc., flooring
Should I buy everything at Byggmax or are there any good recommendations?
Doesn't need to be unnecessarily high quality, but it should be decent
Very grateful for help here since I'm completely green

We have installed a lot of Byggmax parquet flooring and are satisfied with it, and also think that their oil paint works excellently.
Tiles and indoor paint (Nordsjö) I usually buy at Hornbach, I think they have good prices on building materials overall.

Bauhaus usually has decent prices on interior doors. I bought a couple of slightly nicer interior doors (to match the existing ones) from GK door, definitely not cheap. But super quality. It was for a bathroom, so it was critical to mount the frame. I got the frame from Bauhaus. The carpenter was surprised that Bauhaus frames were of such good quality. He said that frames are often made of such poor wood that you have to straighten and tension the frame to prevent it from warping.
Hornbach and Bauhaus are quite cheap, as well as Byggmax, although I think Hornbach has better flooring than Byggmax.
Personally, I am very satisfied with everything I have bought from Byggmax even though it is "budget."
One last thing that might be worth mentioning, even if you didn't ask about it... it's timber quality... From what I've heard, everyone buys their timber from the same place, which means the timber at Byggmax and other places holds the same quality!

One boring thing is that Byggmax is the only one with good internet pictures/sortiment. It's troublesome when you have to drive around to a million places
What I need now is (what I think)
* Oak floor 3 strip for an apartment of 79 sqm
* White paint that is supposed to be kitchen-like paint for the whole apartment so it's easy to wash off (yeah, I know it's weird but I have kids who play with jam fingers, and yes, in the whole apartment
)
* 5 doors with door frames
* Tiles and ceramics for a bathroom of about 6 sqm, floor heating and spotlights in the ceiling
* Kitchen but I'll take that from IKEA
Oh, I must find materials for all this, also have another apartment where I want to tighten up 2 walls 1 with a skutdörr that goes into the wall (suggestions?) and close off an opening, tiles ceramics for a small bathroom of 2 sqm + paint the whole apartment white
I have my work cut out for me

All timber from the same place?andeb said:
So there’s only one sawmill then?
This collapses on its own absurdity.
I buy all my timber from my local builder's merchant, and there are several reasons for that:
-I get what I want bundled and help loading it onto my trailer.
-Better quality, rare to find twisted or bent studs.
-Last but not least, he is generally cheaper on all timber than Byggmax.
However, I buy a lot of other things at Byggmax and am satisfied with these products.
Gabbe1; May I ask which local building supplier you use, and do you have any form of contract discount?
I'm in the process of chasing prices in the Västra Götaland region and when it comes to list prices that are "publicly" available, BM, Hornbach, Bauhaus, and Cheapy are clearly the lowest on standard products.

To avoid accusations of advertising, I just sent a PM to you.Forbo said:Gabbe1; May I ask which local building materials supplier you use, and do you have any form of contractual discount?

My local XL-bygg turned out to be cheaper on lumber than Byggmax, and it's also very close... a bit hard to admit after driving several miles to Byggmax for years, I have to try to justify it by saying maybe they haven't had the same price all the time... or something... but please check around locally before you rush to Byggmax.
So true that there are local sawmills, but what I heard from a construction company in the Stockholm area is that "everyone" buys their timber from the same place... where that is, I don't know, and how it works I know even less about....
Regarding the prices, he said he thought Byggmax had its procurement in a different way... it seemed as though they had negotiated a fixed price, while other building merchants have a variable price, which then can make, for example, XL-bygg occasionally get cheaper prices than Byggmax... as I then understand it, they buy the timber from the same place!
