Couldn't find a proper section for this question, so I'll post it here.
So, here's the thing: I'm planning to put up "stone" on the wall behind the stove and I'm wondering what I should put underneath on the wall when I glue these.
The stones in question are made of plaster or similar, meaning fake, and the weight is about 12 kg/m2. So, not that much in my opinion.
The wall today looks as follows:
House, built in the mid-60s, walls framed with 30x30 studs (crosswise) and on these is nailed rough-sawn planks about 70mm wide. (Floor to ceiling)
On top of this is a hardboard, and then a tretex board. (I think that's what it's called). Then wallpaper. A bit complicated I think...
My idea is to tear down the tretex and hardboard, and put up a sheet of renovation plasterboard, screw it in place, and then glue the "stone" on it.
The surface will be 90cm wide and floor to ceiling. (about 250cm)
Right or wrong?
I really don't want the stuff to come down later...:eek:
