Putting drywall on reverted ceiling
Hello,
I have torn down a huntonit ceiling in a bedroom and have a plastered ceiling with a reed mat left. Underneath there are boards. The house is from 1936. The plaster is very porous and falls down quite easily, but I would like to avoid dismantling it if possible, because it would be so dusty and a lot to take to the tip. My question is if I can put gypsum directly on the plaster and screw it into the boards above, or if I need to add battens and frame it up to have some air space in between? Grateful for your help.
Best regards, Ulrika

Grateful for a response. Best regards,
We got help from craftsmen to screw up a new ceiling in the basement of the previous house where reeds and plaster started to come loose. There, they screwed up tongue and groove boards across the entire ceiling, and it went just fine. Sheets probably work just as well as long as it's still reasonably flat.
