put up interior walls and insulate
I have just bought a house & need some help regarding the installation of internal walls.
My house is from 1925 and is connected to an old brewhouse. The house is a rendered house. The internal walls in the brewhouse are insulated, then framed & plasterboard was installed. I have removed some plasterboard walls and also removed the old insulation. Behind it is just the rendered wall. I now want to insulate and put up new, nice plasterboards.
Do I need to put something between the stone/rendered wall and the insulation, such as some sort of sheet? What type of insulation should I use? When it comes to plasterboards, are there any specific plasterboards I should use?
Is there anything else I need to consider?

Well, you're mentioning inner walls, but when I read, it seems to be the inside of outer walls? Correct?
If so, I would put up insulation with paper on one side, facing the plaster, about 120mm, then I would add a vapor barrier on the inside, build on with 45x45mm studs, and further insulate with 45mm insulation.... then 2 layers of drywall, alternatively one layer of OSB and one layer of drywall....
but.... DON'T forget to be in contact with an electrician, he can help plan the wiring, you probably want outlets and boxes, right? These are best placed in the 45mm space....
The reason I suggest you have OSB first and then drywall on top of that is to make it easier for you if you want to mount something on the walls..... You lay down the OSB and also put battens in the OSB joints for stability. Then proceed with the drywall how you want.....

However, I feel confused as I am unable to add an additional 45mm to my studs, which means that I can only install one layer of insulation. Is this a problem? Can the plastic then be placed between the insulation and the drywall?

Sure, you can lay them flat or stand them up... otherwise, you can set angles or drive in really large screws until you get it right....

There is no problem with having just one layer of insulation, but the point of the 45 mm rule that Milkshaken writes about is that it breaks the thermal bridge that occurs with solid studs in the exterior wall, plus it's always good to avoid puncturing the plastic for any penetrations. An idea if you don't want to build with 120+45 mm studs is to use 95+45 mm studs and then OSB and gypsum, which gives you a wall that is a total of 165 mm.
You should keep in mind that when placing a vapor barrier partway into the wall, it should never be more than 1/3 of the total insulation thickness into the wall. This you can just manage if you use 95+45 mm insulation. Additionally, I think you should use the OSB boards vertically so you don't have to add additional studs at the joints to make it sturdy, just remember to offset the OSB so that the joints don't line up with the gypsum joints. I hope I've been clear and not confused you too much.

but about the OSB being horizontal, I never really understood the point of that, but maybe I'm stupid :blushing: but you're welcome to explain it to me if you feel like it. At work, we always install the OSB vertically, but on the other hand, it is mm-trimmed to fit the wall height, so it still goes quickly. Personally, I've installed råspont in my walls, with a 45, then plastic and insulation.
Explain yes... It's so simple that it feels natural to have some horizontal and others vertical... Then if you have 90cm drywall... yes, then I would prefer vertical OSB..... because then it becomes staggered anyway... It's mostly a feeling that it gets better with horizontal and vertical... THINK OLD PLANK WALL....
But isn't it a lot of sawing of the boards, especially the last one at the top, that one has to split. Sure, there might be sawing if you stand them up, but if you build the wall to fit a standard board in height if possible, you avoid that, and if you have c/c 60 there is automatic support at all joints. But after all, people can do as they wish, as long as they feel joy with their project, so I shouldn't have too many objections to it, hopefully, I'm not stepping on your toes.
