Hello!
We're experiencing some smell issues in our villa from '74 that might be coming from treated wood.
I replaced a basement window a few months ago and took a picture at that time.
Is it the sill you see above the window, which is so extremely green?
Or is it some other roof material where they used treated wood?

  • Green board above a window frame, possibly treated wood, visible after basement renovation, with an outdoor view of trees and buildings.
To add, the picture is taken from the gillestuga in the basement.

The beam hardly hangs in the air like that. It's supposed to support the studs in the walls. Likely some form of plastic to keep the insulation in place.

Okay, the green is in wood though

Yes, then it very well might be that. At that time, a lot of copper salts were used in the impregnation and it turns green.

Okay, I'll investigate further with dimensions to be sure if it's the threshold beam.
It might be clear in the picture, but there should be a piece of panel in the cavity by the green.
