I am planning to build a conservatory but can't find the dimensions for the posts up to the beam for the roof... the roof will be insulated and sheet metal on top. I was thinking of using 45x120 as roof rafters with support in the middle. The beam will probably be glulam since it's about 330 cm between the posts with sliding doors. Does 95 x 95 work as posts or should I screw together 3 pieces of 45x120? Or glulam for the posts as well? Very grateful for tips!
Go to www.byggbeskrivningar.se. Under "Dimensionering" you can probably dimension the entire conservatory.
looked a bit at byggbeskrivningar.se and they seem very eager to sell expensive glulam... unfortunately, I don’t want to buy it unless it’s absolutely necessary. Is glulam 90x315 really needed for a span of 2700mm?!
What have you calculated? What has a span of 2700?
span was 3200mm between 2 posts... and there should be a glulam beam 90x315. going to have sliding doors in that opening. but I'm wondering if everyone builds with such large dimensions...
It's probably due to the snöficka that you're getting such a large dimension.
ok, doesn't a regular 95x95 look weak? my patio with sliding doors will be 7x4 meters and I want it to first hold and then look good. support beam roof 2 by 8 - what is your span between the posts then? do you also have sliding sections?
