Hi, I will be building a fence on my porch in a few weeks but I'm unsure how to attach the posts for the fence to the deck. The joists are on the ground and are 45x95, placed on concrete slabs.

I could attach the posts with through bolts but I'm unsure if the joists will withstand the lever force. The alternative I'm considering is either digging down pre-cast footings, but this feels cumbersome. Or attaching post shoes directly to the floor. The question is whether the latter option will be durable?

The height will be about 1 meter, then there will be an angle on the deck, and then the fence will be about 140 cm high, only to go down and be a meter again. I will place a trellis (about 1 meter wide) that will reinforce sideways approximately in the middle of the high part, to break the wind somewhat.

What do you think about the post support?

Make a hole in the floor and screw it into the side of the floor joist.
