Hello,
This weekend I plan to cast a small ledge/elevation on the basement floor to place the hydropress in order to avoid issues with potential flooding. The ledge will be approximately 800x500x100mm. My idea was to fill up so that I only cast a 50mm thick mesh-reinforced shell around the fill. The question is what should I fill it with. In the "good to have pile," I have old cement slabs that are 50mm thick, as well as 50mm thick foam plastic boards. My initial thought is to place the cement slabs on the raw basement floor, build a casting mold around, reinforce, and pour the concrete. Am I thinking correctly, or should I use the foam plastic instead, or should I do something completely different? The basement is an old, unheated basement used for nothing except the hydropress.
Thanks in advance!
