Hello
I have carried out an extensive renovation where I, together with my old father-in-law, have added an additional floor to the house. When we did that, (of course) the existing interior brick walls became too low. As it stands today, we have temporarily propped up the new roof trusses in the middle until it was time to build up the interior walls again... and that time is now.
Now I'm going to do it myself and want to ensure that I'm going about it the right way. My plan is to cut about 20cm of rebar, drill down holes into the existing brick interior wall, and place these between each block laid in the first layer. I was thinking of using 250mm leca blocks with a channel for rebar reinforcement.
Three layers are what need to be built up. The last layer will be U-blocks where we place rebar and cast it to then put a board and fasten it in the casting. This will then be finished off with angle irons that are attached to the trusses and the board. Am I doing it right?
Above existing door openings, can I use leca beams there? Or should it be glulam beams?
Best regards
