Plaster, difference between manufacturers?
Wondering if anyone has experience with different brands of wall render?
I have some walls that need rendering and I can't get it right. I find the render doesn't hold together very well and dries too quickly. I'm using KC 50/50 from Mira.
I mix according to the quantities specified and use a mixer for about 7-8 minutes. I have pre-moistened the wall several times.
I can manage to skim coat a wall with good results without needing to sand much afterwards =) So I'm not completely useless. So I think that with a little practice this should work too.
But I'm starting to wonder if there are other brands that might be easier to work with? Because when I watch on YouTube, the consistency and the time they have to work the render afterwards are completely different than for me. The render becomes sandy very quickly after it's applied to the wall. I have a maximum of 15-20 minutes to go back and smooth the render. Which becomes stressful when the wall is 2.7m high and 1m wide.
Or is it that the mixing ratios on the package are completely wrong? Does it need more or less water?
Many questions, but maybe I can get some help. Starting to get a bit frustrated as this failure is holding up the rest of the renovation.

What is the sand size in the mortar, 0-1 or 0-3? I find 0-1 mortar easier to work with by hand.S stefand said:Wondering if anyone has experience with different brands of wall plaster?

I can manage to spread filler on a wall with good results without having to sand much afterwards =) So I'm not completely incompetent. So I think with a little practice, this should be possible.

It is 0-3mm.
Is there mortar mix c with 0-1mm? Maybe that is the difference. In all the videos, it is only emphasized how important it is to choose the right plaster. But very little about how to determine what is right.
Watching the video when they plaster with weber base 224, and there is no chance for me to use that technique. The mortar is almost like glue. And it's even possible to attach narrow battens that can be used as screed guides.

Byggmax puts is really terrible in every way. Never again.
Finjas is my favorite, but expensive if you don't have a good deal. Bauhaus Probau was really nice to work with, on par with Finja.

Thank you.
I will continue with some plaster questions, even if it deviates from the topic of manufacturers.
Different plasters have different strengths. But I actually have nothing to reference, so those figures mean nothing to me. Other than the internal difference between plasters.
It's walls in a bathroom that need plastering to become straight. Most places need no more than 1-1.5cm of plaster, but one wall is really bad and there needs to be 4-5cm on about half of the wall.
Is gypsum plaster strong enough even in such a thick layer? Is the fiber-reinforced plaster better? Even if it has to be applied in more rounds than gypsum plaster.
Is all plaster strong enough to hold tiles after the sealing layer?

I have used Byggmax render mortar in the basement. I think it has worked well, having used up 3-4 tons so far. I'm plastering all the walls in the entire basement. But I haven't tried any "fancy" brands as it was outside the budget. Render is an excellent base for tiles and clinker.
I have no experience with gypsum plaster other than that people advise against using it outdoors and in basements.
If you're going to plaster 4-5 cm, I suggest you "coarse plaster" where it's needed the most and let it stand for at least a day before applying the final layer. I've plastered 3-4 cm at most, and it's easy for it to fall off and cause swearing. It's also difficult to get a good finish with such thick plaster.
A rule of thumb is that the substrate should be as strong or stronger than the render mortar, otherwise it can come loose from the substrate afterward.
