Hello

I have an old unplastered chimney that is supposed to contain a Jøtul cassette, see picture.
The chimney is unplastered and probably 50 years old. I've hired a company to install the cassette, but before they come, I'd like to plaster and paint the chimney.
Is this something a handy man can do himself, or should I get help?

Does Finjas Kalkcement C mixed with sand 1:4 work?
The chimney also has a corner. How do I get it right?

Grateful for advice from those experienced in the field.

/Jan

  • Unfinished masonry chimney with black Jötul insert and exposed bricks. Surrounding tools hint at planned plastering and painting work.
Check out Gypsum naturgips.

Seems okay.
Is it much easier to work with than regular plaster?
It's probably much more expensive in terms of price?

It behaves more like husfix or putty than plaster, so I can imagine it being praised by the painter and rejected by the bricklayer :D
I personally find it much easier to work with plaster on large surfaces once you know the technique, which requires some patience.
Is it much more expensive price-wise?
Approximately 2-3 times more expensive if you also consider that there is less waste.

The risk is that husfix will also be rejected by the chimney sweep who is supposed to approve the chimney. Check with him before you go ahead with husfix anyway.
