Hello,
We have just removed a cast iron stove that was built into the kitchen. Now we need to tidy up the chimney breast, but the question is how difficult it is to do this ourselves? For example, should we brick up the hole and then apply plaster (like lime mortar?) or can we just fill the hole with plaster? I should add that I've never worked with plaster before.

Is it a good idea to try to fix this ourselves?

  • Old kitchen chimney with exposed brick and mortar, featuring a hole from a removed cast iron stove, ready for renovation or plastering.
Clean the hole and seal it with C-bruk, plaster with C-bruk.
