The other day, I got tired of the surface above the fireplace insert being 5-10 cm crooked and I cut away the wallpaper to create a straight line. Above the plastered brick, there is a drywall sheet. How can I make the drywall look plastered? And can I also use it for the small strip next to the plastered brick? It feels a bit unnecessary to drag home a 25 kg bag of plaster for that small piece. Would husfix work if you play a little with the surface after application? I read that it cracks with heat, can it get that hot when it's up by the ceiling?
I've read that you can use regular wall paint to paint with, does that also apply inside the hole where the fireplace insert is located?
Paint the area where the fireplace insert will stand with black paint, as other shades may get discolored. Regular wall paint works for this. Generally, regular wall paint works, but choose one that you can wipe off because there will always be some black soot/dust.
