I'm planning a doorway made of leca blocks near an exterior wall and need a pillar according to the picture. Can you build a pillar like this or are there better methods?
Leca blocks are hollow, so you can insert rebar and pour concrete all the way, which should be quite stable. But I think the insulation will be quite poor because there will only be a 50mm facade board on the outside to align with the wooden structure that also has it on the outside. On the other hand, the row at the bottom will also only have 50mm of cellplast on the outside, so overall a pillar might not affect the total insulation that much?
There are Isoblock pillar blocks that provide slightly better insulation, but then I can't reinforce in the same way, only with short pieces horizontally. However, there won't be any loads on this other than that I thought it could cooperate with the wooden structure to be stable. https://www.se.weber/leca/lecar-isoblock-20/lecar-isoblock-20-30-pelarblock
Should I use hollow Leca blocks with reinforcement+concrete, or isoblock, or something completely different?
In the construction drawing, there's a steel beam over the doorway and then a steel pillar down, but there's no longer any need for a steel beam there, so I'd rather avoid dealing with it.
I have now concluded that I will reduce the width to 20cm instead and use hollow blocks that I can then reinforce and cast, so it feels more stable. Then I have room for an additional 5cm outside the column, i.e., 5+5cm in total.
