Hello,
I’m pondering over a small building/shed to store my garden tools and lawnmower, and I’ve decided I want to build with a pent roof. How do you actually construct a pent roof? If you place the roof beams so that they go between the front and the back, with the back being the lowest (in building height). I was thinking of having vertical paneling. I plan to use 45x220 for the roof beams. How should the paneling be attached to ensure it's tight up to the roof (tongue and groove boards)? At the top, there won't be anything to attach the paneling to...what should one do here? Or is it perhaps not an issue??

If anyone has a drawing of a wooden building with a pent roof, I would be very happy to take a look at it :)

Then another question... If you notch the 220 roof beams so maybe only 110 remains between the wall and the roof, do you lose the load-bearing capacity of the 220 beams? Wouldn’t it have been simpler to choose smaller ones from the start?

For the last question, both yes and no. They become weaker in terms of how much weight they can hold, but that’s usually not a problem. What often requires thicker timber is typically that it shouldn’t bend in the middle, so it doesn't matter if you notch a bit at the ends, for example.

You can place a roof rafter out far enough so that you can use it as a fixture for the panel, possibly adding a small rafter like a 45X70 outside the roof rafter to get some distance if needed.
