I currently have a basement wall in the stairwell down to the basement that faces my wood storage in the basement.
The wood storage is not heated, other than by the wood boiler located in the room outside.
The wall is built with concrete hollow blocks.
How should one proceed here?
I want drywall on that wall, from ceiling upstairs to floor in the basement.
I assume I need some form of air gap between the stone and the wall, but how much?
I have 25mm between the stair stringer and the stone wall.
Can I then place a 13mm batten and a 12mm gypsum board and get a sufficient gap?
The previous owner had an air gap of 25mm and then placed a chipboard on the stringer. I think it looks bad that way, and you have to cut according to the contour of the stringer, which is shaped in a curve.
I removed what was there because it was a jumbled collection of chipboard pieces and cracked/loose everywhere.
