Hello! Help a poor amateur. I'm putting joint compound on drywall with paper tape in the seams. I've read that if you glue the tape with wet room glue, it's foolproof. Apparently, I'm more than a fool because it bubbles just the same after joint compounding.

- I'm using Byggmax's runny wet room glue
- I apply a tiny bit of compound in the seam where there's a recess before
- I wait 24 hours before applying joint compound

In that case, you should glue on dry and let it dry before applying putty.

Be sure to vacuum away any dust before you glue and "brush out" all air bubbles.

Yes, brush glue over the strip as well so you really get it down, let it dry.

I am doing exactly the same thing. BUT I got a tip about a special glue that I use. Then when the strip is in place, I press it with a damp wettex that slides well along the strip.

No bubbles...

I think it's good to apply pressure with the rullen.

I have always just used wet room primer and a brush... Apply it quite thick on the seam, put on the tape, and brush over until it sticks and you have "glue" over the entire tape.

No problem with getting the putty to adhere to the glue? Worried about that.

We use gypsum glue in the joints, no cracks.

Plaster glue for the tape? Or just plaster glue and putty?

Why not just use joint compound right away?

Not everyone can make it work (myself included)

No one dares to say that paper strips do not have such superior properties at all (especially not when it comes to installation, which many have problems with).
