Hello!

I bought a house from 1880 and moving in tomorrow. I'm going to start renovating the upstairs where my kids will live. In one room, the wallpaper is very bumpy, and the base (some sort of thicker paper?) is bulging out. I'm thinking it might be easiest to just screw drywall on top and then spackle and wallpaper. However, there's a problem on one wall where it's very tight between the radiator and the baseboard. If I manage to remove the baseboard, I might never get it back on. I have a plan to place drywall against the top edge of the baseboard and then build out a bit over the existing baseboard and up a little on the drywall. It's a bit difficult to explain, but sort of like building into the existing baseboard. Alternatively, I might just try to remove it and do it properly right away 😊 However, I'm racing against time and want to be done quite soon...

  • Radiator with chipped paint, exposed pipes, and cracked wallpaper in an old house being renovated.
  • Damaged baseboard with visible pipes and peeling wallpaper in an old house, highlighting renovation challenges with tight spaces and worn materials.
I had something similar. Removed the elements and bent the pipes after the renoveeungsgips was in place and painted.
