Painting drywall!!

I'm planning to do some painting on drywall next week, but there's just one problem—I have never painted drywall before!!!

So now the question is, how do you go about it, can you just roll it? I was just thinking about how it works with the joints and the recesses in the joints. Does the paint get in properly with just a roller? Or has anyone ever sprayed a drywall ceiling? If so, how did it go?

I painted with a brush in the depressions and then rolled the rest.

Okay, but isn't there a risk of some kind of streaks, shadows if you are going to paint large areas? That is, the paint dries a little in between?!
