We live in a newly built movehome 1.5-story house that was delivered with an unfinished upper floor. There is currently only an attic hatch to access the upper floor. I am now working on finishing the upper floor and plan to install a permanent staircase instead. A straight staircase, either pre-purchased or something I attempt to build myself.
Am I correct in thinking that I can remove the studs marked with "1" and "2" (a total of 4) without affecting the load-bearing capacity? I suspect that the stringers for the staircase will then be screwed directly into the remaining stud. Any other common pitfalls that might be worth considering? It's a shame to have to tear up the floorboard when it is glued & screwed
