Turned out well, we think. All the beams in the ceiling were replaced with new ones but retained the old dimensions since the old ones were notched for electrical wiring. I have a coworker with a small sawmill. A sparse panel was added to each roof truss to accommodate 145mm insulation and an air gap.

  • White attic room with exposed beams and sloped ceiling. A gray sofa and table sit near a window with a view of rooftops. Light shines through the window.
  • Bright attic room with white-painted beams, a window with blinds, and a small plant on the windowsill. Ceiling shows new beams maintaining old dimensions.
  • White-painted attic ceiling with exposed beams and spotlights, showcasing new beams and sparse paneling for 145mm insulation installation.

Turned out damn fancy

Hi,
Did you do this renovation yourself or did you hire help?
Is there a company that can assist you with your work if you want to do the job?
Thank you for your reply,
Susanne

Hello
We did everything ourselves. Tore out the entire upper floor and re-insulated with icell. The only thing we had help with was the electricity.
