Planning to build an isolated extension with an open pier foundation and have a few questions.

1. According to the wood guide, wood facing an open pier foundation should be impregnated, but I find a lot of information from other sources that the wood should be unimpregnated due to possible odors and other inconveniences that can find their way into the "living area" over time. What are your experiences and views on this?

2. A vapor barrier should be placed on the warm side, preferably as close to the insulation as possible.
What are your thoughts on placing a vapor barrier on top of the joists? I think it might cause problems with squeaky floors since I can't glue the floorboards to the joists. How do you think about this?

Grateful for answers from someone who knows better :)

Supplementary question, what does the wood guide actually mean by "wood facing the plinth foundation"? Is it just the wood that is adjacent to the concrete plinths?
