To let more light into the living room, we are planning to create a 2300mm wide opening in a wall. This wall is a load-bearing interior wall located 3 m from one exterior wall and 5 m from the opposite exterior wall. Above this opening, there is a bathroom on the upper floor with a leveled and tiled floor and tiled walls (=heavy construction). The bathroom contains a bathtub (about 300 liters), toilet, sink, and shower area. The intermediate floor is framed cc 300 with C24 45x220.

For such a relatively small opening, do I need to consult a structural engineer to calculate how to manage the load-bearing, or can I assume that, for example, 3 joined screwed/glued 3000mm long beams C24 45x220 are sufficient to support the loads without deflection at the top of the opening?

I can add that the wall in question is a plank wall constructed of approximately 7 cm thick, tongued and grooved planks from the 30s. It was previously an exterior wall, but is now an interior wall!
