Hello! We live in a house built in 1943. In the basement, there is an old floor drain that is not used. Originally, it was likely there because the basement had a door/entrance directly from the garden, and the drain was supposed to collect any rainwater that could be forced in under the door. The door has long been bricked up. The problem now is that with the extreme weather that has occurred, rainwater is being pushed up from the drain as soon as the stormwater outside rises. It was drained 10 years ago, and no other drains in the basement are a problem, but this drain seems directly connected to the stone foundation outside and simply wants to level out the water level as it rises outside the house.
I think it is made of cast iron and appears to have 3 holes that the water seeps through.
How can we seal this drain the simplest and safest way?
