Hello,
I have applied new plaster on the walls in our basement bathroom after the tiles were removed and the old paint behind the tiles was taken off.
Now, about 3 weeks later, I see that tiny hairline cracks, about 10-15 cm long, have developed in certain areas on one of the walls. I would never have noticed it if I hadn't rinsed the walls, as the wall shows slightly lighter traces right along the cracks when watered.
The cracks are barely visible to the eye, but if you look really closely, you can see them.
What is causing this? Is there something I need to fix before tiling?
EDIT:
I should add that the house is from the 50s and the load-bearing interior walls are made of hollow concrete, so it shouldn't have been caused by movement in the walls. Could it be that the new plaster hasn't adhered properly to the old lime plaster in certain areas?
