Hello,

I'm planning to renovate the basement, starting with one room to be used as a gaming and TV room. I need to install flooring and put up walls. Currently, it's just concrete/cement walls and floor.

The question now is:

How should I put up walls? I'm considering attaching some kind of studs to the walls, then putting up plywood and then drywall on top of that. Will that work well? What about potential moisture behind the new wall? How do I handle that?

I assume you do the same with the floor; install studs and raise the floor a bit from the foundation?

Looking forward to your response.

Exactly the construction that usually leads to mold behind the gypsum and other troubles. To start with - is the foundation drained? How does any paint appear to have held up since before on walls and floors?

Hello,

there is previously plywood nailed directly to the wall which has then been wallpapered.
I have removed a bit of this wall and there doesn't seem to be any moisture behind it.
There is no smell in the basement.

Drainage hasn't been done in the last 10 years as far as I know. I have owned the house for 2 years.

The floor is just a felt carpet directly on the foundation.
